A Balance between Rational and Intuitive Matching

Soulseek is Lunch Actually’s specially customized in-house matchmaking system. It comprises a complete physical, psychological and intellectual input of our clients’ characteristics as well as their dating criteria.

“How am I being matched?” is a common question that we are often asked.

Every client is unique. Hence before we arrange for an introduction with another equally unique individual, we first ask ourselves several questions such as:

“Which part of their dating criteria is flexible, and which part is not flexible? Do these two people have compatible values?”

Co-founder of Lunch Actually, Ms Violet Lim sums it up at her interview with The New Paper on the 9th April 2004 (“Are you the one for me?”):

There’s room for incompatibility in the small stuff: Going out versus staying in, shopping versus golfing. But the real issues lie in personal values like “integrity, family, money”, she said.

“Take money, for example. If you were raised in a family where the parents shared an account, and your partner had parents who kept their money separately, there will be different expectations when they get together.”

So if you ask for separate accounts, your partner might say, ‘What’s wrong? Don’t you trust me? Don’t’ you want to make a commitment?’

Hence our Soulseek Matching System is a fine balance between rational and intuitive thinking.
